It has been said that Raquel was born with a smile on her face. Raquel Hargrove, the younger of two twins born on June 26, 1978 to Mary Louise Hargrove-Hawthorne and Barry Hargrove (deceased), has always worn a smile every since her birth.

Raquel lost her father on November 15, 1978, although she was too young to have any recollection of her father. She was adopted by her mother's new husband, Mark Hawthorne.

Raquel had a talent for sewing and designing clothes, which she began doing at the age of 13. She made clothes for herself and her twin sister, Rachel. Raquel would often do household chores for neighbors to earn money to purchase her sewing equipment.

Raquel entered a cloth designing contest.   She won first place, which was a $10,000 scholarship. She now attends Kelly Hills University in Hardaway, Maddocha. She is an intern at Shaffer's Clothing Co.
